As part of our celebration of the Land of 10,000 Makes - and with SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY right around the corner - we thought it would be fun to share a few TOP Team member's favorite local shops and establishments. And, in the midst of the 2020 pandemic, we believe supporting our neighbors is more important than ever before.
So, in no particular order, here are a few of our favorite local MN businesses:
- Minnesota's Largest Candy Store
Why it's loved: so much variety! Creativity and nostalgia layered in all the candy options make this a sweet place to shop small. - Diamond City Bread
Why it's loved: With flavors like 'Wild Rice Blue Cheese' and 'Cranberry Pecan' this downstairs bakery and coffee shop is a great stop any time of day, or day of the week. Each day brings a new, fun flavor - plus the classics are always warm and fresh. - Summit Brewing Co.
Why it's loved (by those 21+): As a pioneer in the craft beer industry, and a manufacturer of imaginative and tasteful beverages, this local St. Paul brewery is a popular destination. Thanks to their daring, the flavor choices available for those that enjoy craft beverages is vast. - Rhino Rotational Molding
Why it's loved: In the Land of 10,000 Lakes, this team of innovators creates great quality fishing and hunting equipment. - Treasure City
Why it's loved: It's name says it all - this shopping experience is a treasure hunt, and the store is filled with true treasures. When you stop, you're sure to get a dose of nostalgic bliss, and maybe even find a rare treasure not sold anywhere else. - Surly Brewing Co.
Why it's loved: put simply, great product. The bold attitude of their brand makes it even greater. - Betty's Pies
Why it's loved: "pies" (duh). Need I say more? Well, if I asked Betty, she might also want you to know that it's home to the 5-layer chocolate pie; and if that's not enough to get you to stop, there is also family dining where everything's home-made. - Heavenly Treats
Why it's loved: handcrafted, truly heavenly toffee, cookies, and toffee-cookies that you'll need to taste to believe that amount of deliciousness is real.
If I don't have you hungry, thirsty, or ready to explore the unknown in these small businesses, then you need to start reading this over again. But more importantly, I hope our list of favorites inspires you to find your local favorites on your small town's main street - physically or virtually depending on when you read this - and support your neighbor's dream.
Happy local shopping!
